Area Groups

A few attenders live in close proximity to the church building.  But many who attend Kern Road Mennonite travel a distance. The most basic group in the congregation, to which every regular attender is a part, is a geographically-based Area Group.  There are six of these.  Each is led by an elder or co-elder who is a member of the congregation’s Ministerial Leadership Team.

The overarching purpose of each Area Groups is to:

  • Welcome – new attenders and help them assimilate into the larger church.
  • Support – help everyone who calls Kern Road their church home to experience basic support and care, especially in times of crisis or transition.
  • Communicate – provide a place for whole-church conversation, education, and decision-making as we pursue the mission of the church together.

If you were to attend, an Area Group would likely be your fastest and best opportunity to begin to learn to know a few familiar names and faces in a smaller group setting.  It also would be a good place to begin to learn to know the diversity of the Kern Road community better and quickly learn if there are any others in the congregation who live in your general neighborhood or region.
