Congregational Vision
By the grace of God and to God’s glory, in the year 2010, we at Kern Road Mennonite Church will be an Anabaptist congregation that –
1. Shapes our daily lives by seeking God, following Jesus and
listening to the Holy Spirit
2. Confesses our brokenness and sin and experiences
transformation through forgiveness.
3. Welcomes and integrates people of diverse backgrounds into
our church family.
4. Worships God in ways that reflect the diversity of God’s people.
5. Reads and reflects on the Bible as our primary guide for living a
Christ-centered life.
6. Shares our daily lives and our spiritual journeys, building trust
and accountability through smaller groups within
the congregation.
7. Identifies, affirms and nurtures the gifts of people of all ages
for ministry.
8. Encourages creativity in the arts as an expression of being
created in God’s image.
9. Practices first fruits giving, accountability and dialogue
about our use of economic resources.
10. Celebrates the life events of those in the church community.
11. Organizes congregational life through stable, yet
flexible structures.
12. Agrees and disagrees in love, working to transform conflict for
mutual growth and understanding.
13. Calls people to faith in Jesus Christ.
14. Seeks peace and harmony in our homes, church, community
and world, working to name and transform conflict
and injustice.
15. Wrestles with the problems and possibilities of modern life,
seeking to discern God’s will in a changing world.
16. Accepts our responsibility for stewardship of all of
God’s creation.
17. Initiates outreach ministries in response to needs and to God’s
call upon individuals and groups within the congregation.
18. Connects with our denomination and the larger body of Christ
in our community, nation and world.
